Ajman Municipality and Planning Department Wins Global Excellence Assembly’s 2024 Excellence in Innovation Award

‍Ajman, United Arab Emirates – May 19, 2024 – Ajman Municipality and Planning Department (AMPD) has been honored with the prestigious 2024 Excellence in Innovation Award by the Global Excellence Assembly (GEA). This award recognizes AMPD’s groundbreaking Virtual Asset Counting project, a pioneering initiative that leverages 3D technology and artificial intelligence to revolutionize asset management in government entities.

The Global Excellence Assembly Awards celebrate outstanding achievements in innovation and leadership across various sectors. The AMPD’s Virtual Asset Counting project stood out for its innovative use of advanced technologies to create an integrated record of over 33,000 assets. This system significantly enhances the efficiency and accuracy of asset management, setting a new benchmark for government entities in the UAE.

Key Highlights of the Virtual Asset Counting Project:

• Innovative Technology Integration: The project employs 3D technology to provide a virtual representation of all assets, reducing time and effort in asset inventorying.
• Cost and Time Efficiency: The implementation has resulted in a 77% reduction in inventory duration and an 80% cost reduction, from 300,000 AED to 60,000 AED.
• Enhanced Operational Transparency: The system integrates with existing management systems, facilitating real-time data updates and improving decision-making capabilities.
• Improved Employee Safety and Satisfaction: The approach has significantly reduced the physical and cognitive burden on employees, fostering a safer and more positive work environment.
• International Recognition: The project has been lauded in international forums, further establishing AMPD as a leader in governmental innovation.

Impact and Outcomes: Since its launch in early 2022, the Virtual Asset Counting system has demonstrated substantial improvements in operational efficiency. The manpower required for asset counting has been reduced by 71%, and the project has facilitated better resource allocation and enhanced employee safety. The system’s ability to streamline asset management processes has led to improved service delivery to the public and other government departments.

Future Plans: AMPD plans to further enhance the system by integrating it with cost accounting systems for quicker analysis of asset details. There are also plans to incorporate real-time location tracking for assets, ensuring continuous improvement and adaptation to new technologies.
